Artek A810 Floor Lamp
A810 Floor Lamp by Artek has two conical white steel shades that give this fixture an elegant, yet architectural presence. The base and stem are partially covered leather and can be ordered with your choice of brass or steel accents. The Artek A810 Floor Lamp was designed by Alvar Aalto: "Floor lamp A810 derives from the same model as its slightly earlier sister model A809. Both lamps were chosen for Villa Kokkonen, the house of the composer Joonas Kokkone"
About Artek and Alvar Aalto
Artek was founded in 1935 by four young idealists: Alvar and Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen, and Nils-Gustav Hahl. The business strategy of the company was “to sell furniture and to promote a modern culture of living by exhibitions and other educational means”. The founders of Artek advocated a new kind of environment for everyday life. They believed in a grand synthesis of the arts and wanted to make a difference in architecture and design as well as in town planning.
