Alvar Aalto Artek 90D Table
90D Table by Artek is a 3-legged round table is a beautiful example of simple, elegant yet functional design. Utilizing the L-leg technology developed by Aalto himself, birch laminate legs are bent at a 90-degree angle where they are then attached directly to the underside of the table. This technique creates an extremely sturdy but lightweight support system that requires no additional framework. Aalto considered the L-leg his most important furniture innovation.
About Artek and Alvar Aalto
Artek was founded in 1935 by four young idealists: Alvar and Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen, and Nils-Gustav Hahl. The business strategy of the company was “to sell furniture and to promote a modern culture of living by exhibitions and other educational means”. The founders of Artek advocated a new kind of environment for everyday life. They believed in a grand synthesis of the arts and wanted to make a difference in architecture and design as well as in town planning.
