Gubi Kangourou Side Table
The Kangourou Coffee Table by Gubi is consists of two small tables, the smaller one sitting within the larger. When the tables are displayed together as one unit, light passes through, reflecting half-moon shadows onto the floor below, when standing separately, two full moons are reflected.
The Kangourou Coffee Table was designed in 1954 by Mathieu Matégot and is characterised by its design of Rigitulle, a pairing of perforated metal sheet and metal tubing, that Matégot invented a couple of years earlier. Shadows also play a key role in Matégot’s designs.
Gubi is rooted in Scandinavia but with a distinctive global outlook - and sense of aesthetics. The result is an eclectic, intercontinental collection that blurs the lines between the past and the future. An extensive assortment of extremely aesthetic, thought-provoking designs characterised by simple, arresting shapes, original materials and innovative techniques which defy time and space. Imbued with a beauty that resonates with design aficionados, architects and designers all around the world.
